Maka Berulava is a Research Analyst at the Andrei Sakharov Center for Democratic Development Research, where she works primarily with archives. She holds a BA in International Politics and Development from Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania) and an MA in Russian and Post-Soviet Politics from University College London (UCL, UK). She also holds an MA in Future Media and Journalism from Vytautas Magnus University, where her research focused on perceptions of television coverage and its impact on the 2024 elections in Georgia.
From 2022 to 2023, Maka served as the Young Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Lithuania, a position awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. In this role, she organized several conferences and seminars on Soviet heritage in Lithuania and Georgia, as well as in Ukraine and other post-Soviet countries. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, she has been an active volunteer with the Lithuanian Red Cross, assisting Ukrainian refugees with migration services.
Her areas of interest include Russian and post-Soviet politics, memory politics, and the dissemination of disinformation and misinformation
