Dr. Gabija Grigaitė–Daugirdė is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law at Vilnius University, where she also serves as Director of the NOHA (Network of Universities on Humanitarian Action) programme and is a member of the Lithuanian International Humanitarian Law Commission.
She previously held senior government positions, including Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, where she was responsible for shaping and implementing policy in international law, sanctions, export controls, and issues related to the responsibility of Russia and Belarus for breaches of international law. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Minister of Justice, focusing on the application of international and EU law in public policy and matters related to the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
Dr. Grigaitė–Daugirdė began her career as a legal advisor in the Lithuanian Parliament and later spent six years advising Dalia Grybauskaitė, ensuring that national legislation aligned with domestic, international, and EU legal frameworks.
She holds a PhD in International Law from Vilnius University, with research focusing on the legality of the use of force for humanitarian purposes. She also studied at Ghent University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Vilnius University.
With over 15 years of academic experience, she has taught international public law, international humanitarian law, and international criminal law, and has coached student teams for international moot court competitions. In 2019, she was admitted to the Lithuanian Bar Association.
