Andreas Persbo is Director of the Open Nuclear Network (ONN), a Vienna-based programme under the US-based PAX sapiens Foundation. He leads efforts in nuclear risk reduction, verification innovation, and open-source monitoring. His work has focused on strengthening international safeguards, increasing transparency around sensitive nuclear activities, and advancing practical approaches to disarmament verification grounded in international law.

Previously, he served as Research Director at the European Leadership Network and as Executive Director of VERTIC, where he helped pioneer cooperative verification initiatives, including early work on verified warhead dismantlement. He has also supported United Nations expert processes on nuclear disarmament verification through UNIDIR.

He trained in law in Stockholm and in nuclear law in Montpellier and began his career in United Nations peace operations and disarmament affairs. His work addresses the legal, technical, and ethical foundations of arms control, which are central to the Sakharov tradition.
